Keeping Our Promise to Our Veterans

Michigan is home to 700,000 veterans who have selflessly answered the call of duty for our country. Our veterans have always been there for us and we must always keep our promise to be there for them. Debbie Stabenow is leading the effort to make sure our veterans get the benefits and services they have earned.

Debbie believes it is unacceptable for veterans to have to drive hundreds of miles to receive basic medical services. That’s why she has brought new veterans health clinics to Alpena, Bad Axe, Cadillac, Clare and Mackinaw City—with a new clinic in Grayling expected to open soon. She has also authored legislation to protect veterans’ health care.

Debbie is also making sure our veterans can find a good-paying job as they transition to civilian life, especially our service members returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. She has led the effort to pass a new law that cuts taxes for business that hire veterans. And the bipartisan farm bill she wrote as Chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture Committee includes help for veterans who want to get started in agriculture, a bright spot in our economy. Our returning veterans have valuable talent and expertise, and they deserve a chance to earn a paycheck to support their families.
